Visit Britain rolls out biggest ever marketing campaign
Culture secretary Jeremy Hunt has unveiled a new British tourism marketing campaign which will see the New York Subway, Paris Metro, and 100 taxis across Delhi draped with the Union flag. A series of GREAT images with also form part of the campaign, designed to encourage more international visitors to the UK.
China continues to develop as outbound tourism market
China has witnessed another year of growth in terms of outbound tourism, confirming the predictions made by China Outbound Tourism Research Institute at the beginning of 2011. The China Tourism Academy put the final figures as approximately 70 million trips overseas in 2011, an increase of more than 20 per cent from the 57.4 million trips in 2010.
Eurail Group sees strong increase in overseas sales
Eurail Group has reported a rise in the number of Eurail passengers travelling from outside of Europe over the past year. Annual sales results at the organisation, which is dedicated to the marketing of the Eurail product range, indicate that 451,227 non-Europeans travelled with a Eurail Pass in 2011, which represents a steady increase of 5.6 per cent on 2010 figures.
Hoseasons Group holds ground during difficult period
Hoseasons Group saw holiday sales increase fractionally over 2011 when compared to the previous year the organisation revealed earlier. Hoseasons – which operates Cottages4you, English Country Cottages and its own brand properties – sold 1.5 per cent more holidays than in 2010, buoyed by TV advertising.
Iberostar Hotels welcomes new Cancun property
Iberostar Hotels & Resorts officially opened the new Iberostar Cancun during an inauguration ceremony this morning with Miguel Fluxá, executive chairman of the company, and Antonio Banderas, brand ambassador since 2010. The brand invested €79 million in the purchase and renovation of the Iberostar Cancun after it closed its doors in August 2011 for the refurbishment of facilities.
Etihad Airways moves into profit for first time
Releasing financial results for 2011 today, Etihad Airways confirmed it has moved into profit for the first time. The results included earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, amortisation and rentals of US$648 million, with a net profit of US$14 million.
Iberia moves to Terminal 5 at London Heathrow
The merger of Iberia and British Airways continues to deliver new advantages to the customers of both airlines, with the Spanish flag-carrier set to move to Terminal 5 at London Heathrow. Iberia passengers will depart and arrive at the new facility from March 25th.
P&O Ferries’ Spirit of France launches in English Channel
P&O Ferries’ second new €180 million ship, Spirit of France, has set sail on her maiden voyage to Calais. With capacity for up to 2,000 passengers, and three separate vehicle decks capable of carrying nearly four kilometres of traffic parked end to end, the giant ship joins her identical twin sister the Spirit of Britain in revolutionising travel on the Dover Strait.

easyJet boosts cheap Reykjavik flights to all year service
