At 2:05pm on March 1, 2009 The Travel Show was about to begin (it's heard every week form 2-4pm EST on WABC).  The guests were set, the subject matter was planned, and the players were on the launch pad ready to go.  We take great care in preparing for The Travel Show every week and this day was about to be different.

At 2:05.30pm, Adam said in my ear, “Brian Williams is on line 1.”  He was calling because we asked him to.  He was calling because his staff has their finger firmly planted on the pulse of the media business (of which we laugh at the idea of being a part of) and he was calling to comment on a story we talked about the previous week. On a travel note, I am thrilled Brian and his wife are vacationing this year and doing their part to help this slow economy.  I am especially happy they are considering a U.S. destination.  In addition, I’d like to thank Lauren from the Nightly staff for taking the time to look into the request.
