Erik shows you the transportation options in Las Vegas!
Las Vegas is primarily served by McCarren International Airport and is located about 15 minutes from the strip. It has 96 gates and is separated into two terminals. Major hotels have check in desks at baggage claim. Depending on your hotel, you may be able to check in to your room and have your bags sent there as well without ever having to claim them at the airport. Check with your hotel for specifics. The taxi line can be rather long at LAS, so have a skycap help you with your luggage (even if you don’t need it). By tipping them two or three dollars per bag, they’ll take you to a special "skycaps only” taxi line where the wait is mere minutes (if it all).
Depending on what you plan to do (and where you are staying) you may not need a car to get around. If you are planning on staying on the strip (and not leaving) then a car is not necessary (and not recommended as the traffic can be a little congested on the strip). Hailing a cab on the strip is against the law. You may only get a cab at hotels (or you may arrange for pick up in advance).
There are a couple of light rails on the strip, but ithey offer limited stops. If you are on foot, keep in mind distances between hotels on the strip are farther than they look. Wear comfortable walking shoes and sunscreen.
