| Is it possible to EAT your way through a trip to NYC? The answer is Yes because New York is home to an estimated 18,000 restaurants. NYC has always been a melting pot of culture, heritage and backgrounds and the food choices are a reflection of the diverse population. So here are are a few points to consider... Breakfast NYC has a lot of diners. I think it has something to do with apartments being so small so New Yorkers have always needed a neighborhood place to get breakfast or a burger. Ask the concierge for an authentic diner suggestion. A diner is a great spot for eggs, home fries, meat and toast. On a side note, you must have a bagel and shmear (that's a bagel with cream cheese). H&H is a good choice or any Essa Bagel location will do. Lunch Yes, you have to have lunch at a NY deli. Lunch time is also the ideal time to experience a five star restaurant without paying "dinner prices". Dinner New Yorkers eat late, so do your homework. If it is a restaurant in high demand (Nobu for example) get a reservation a month in advance. Have at least one dinner at a NY signature restaurant. Also, NYC is home to five star award-winning steak houses. Ben Bensons, Old Homestead, Smith & Wollensky's, DelMonicos are a few of my favorites. Slice Pizza is a must here. Get a "slice for lunch or a snack. Rays Pizza or Famous Famiglias are both great choices. |
