WABC Travel
Host Erik Hastings is doing what he was born to do: Travel, meet and
interact with people in places all over the world, and get behind the
biggest microphone he can find (WABC Radio-NY). Erik's company,
Scripted Improv Media, produces “The Travel Show” for WABC Radio's
tri-state listening audience. The Sunday afternoon show is heard by
more than a quarter of a million people in New York, New Jersey,
Pennsylvania and Connecticut. WABC is the most streamed AM radio
station in the world. Official tourism bureaus, travel professionals
and "destination experts" collaborate with Scripted Improv to ensure
accuracy and relevancy of destination and travel content.
In addition to
the show, the company pioneered a new style of online destination
videos. With such destinations as New Orleans, Hilton Head, Long Beach
Island, Saratoga and Valley Forge (just to name a few), Erik’s online
library is gaining national attention from syndicated product
suppliers.
Born and
raised in America's heartland (that's code for Des Moines, Iowa) Erik
got his first taste of travel when, at age 13, he was invited to join
the cast of the musical "Peace Child," which was making its debut tour
to Moscow and other cities of the former Soviet Union. That memorable
trip planted the seed of what has grown to be a passion to make the
most of every trip opportunity…for education…entertainment…business…or
pure recreational and leisure enjoyment.
That passion
turned into a personal mission for Erik. A mission to get more people
traveling more often, staying longer and experiencing the positive power of travel. This
message and his ardent support of “humor in marketing” are reoccurring
themes at his speaking engagements. They are often the most requested
subject matter from organizers of Governors Conferences on Tourism as
well as other industry trade shows and meetings.
Erik has had
the privilege of working for radio superstars Rush Limbaugh, Sean
Hannity and Scott Shannon all of whom are known for pursuing career and
lifestyle dreams with passion and excellence; they have been great
mentors and a source of inspiration for Erik.
Erik is a
travel advocate. He is passionate about travel as an avocation, and
about creative media production, as a business. He attributes much of
his success to the team of collaborators that work with him to produce
excellent content.
